Brooklyn, New York

This industrial tropical shoot is born of good friends, a shared vision, and the community that exists here in Brooklyn. Wedding planner, Jove Meyer, photographer, Amber Gress, and bridal accessories designer ,Thea Bloch-Neal combined forces to bring this shoot to life, and we couldn't be happier with the results. Living in New York often comes with limitations in terms of both space, and aesthetic options for venues, which is why we chose this challenge of making something that is both urban and industrial have a bit of a fresh tropical vibe. We began the process by putting together a pinterest board, that borrowed from some vintage elements as well as a incorporated a fresh modern take for the overall look. We knew we wanted color, so the orange ombre´ dress was a must! The lovely ladies of SYNderela were so excited about the concept, that they made this special hand dip dyed dress just for the shoot! To accompany this first look, Thea of Hushed Commotion added some fresh and clean, off white silk flowers with hand painted gold edging detail, made on easy to secure bobby pins for the Brides hair, styled by the one and only Stacy of Styles on B. The makeup by Morgan Gates, kept the look fresh and bright to bring out the brides eyes, without taking away from the overall gorgeous look! Of course, we have to give a shout out to Anna Sheffield who was generous enough to bring these stunning pieces to our set! You just can't go wrong with a black diamond, and rose gold band!
Not only is this dress custom, but the suit from A Suit That Fits also brought the special elements together with the fun turquoise lining, and shorts for the reception! The impeccable stationary by Katie Fischer Design really helped drive the overall look of the shoot. We were super inspired by the retro Beverly Hills banana leaf wall paper, and knew that this was going to be our jumping off point! When Anne from Blade NYC came in with all of the amazing foliage, it really brought everything together! Her ceremony backdrop, was to die for, and we hope someone does this soon! We knew we needed a special venue to shoot and Jove Meyer connected us with the brand new space 26 Bridge and there couldn't have been a better place for the shoot! Of course no shoot is complete without a special treat from Lael cakes, who incorporated the theme by making the super duper marbleized cake with a custom gold pineapple stamped, and perfectly delicate Hibiscus flower to top it off. The little cupcakes with pineapple toppers really just took it to the next level! Of course, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to work with Pok Pok, the famous South East Asian street food restaurant that always has a wait here in Brooklyn. The cuisine fit perfectly with the theme, brining in elements of sweet and spicy foods, and tropical green papaya salad, and yes we got to have it after our shoot! To finish off the party, we put the bride in a short laser cut leather dress, from Shop Lovely, and changed the groom into his custom shorts, as they kicked off the party in fabulous and laid back style! We all had so much fun with this and can't wait for brides and grooms to be inspired by all the love we put into this shoot!
